KU welcomed the President of Kochi University, Japan

          On 4 October 2023 at 10.00 a.m., in meeting room 9, on the 2^nd floor of the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University, Associate Professor Dr. Ladawan Puangchit, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Damrong Sripraram, Vice President for Administration; Assistant Professor Dr. Seri Koonjaenak, DVM, Vice President for Sriracha Campus; Associate Professor Dr. General Chumpol Piamsomboon, Acting Dean of Faculty of Medicine; Assistant Professor Dr. Suriyan Tunkijjanukij, Dean of Faculty of Fisheries; Assistant Professor Dr. Nadhawee Bunnag, Deputy Dean for Foreign Relations and Special Affairs, Faculty of Social Sciences; Assistant Professor Dr. Montatip Sommeechai, Faculty of Forestry; Dr. Maliwan Thanasombat. Faculty of Forestry; Assistant Professor Dr. Naruemol Kaewjampa, Department of Conservation, Faculty of Forestry; Associate Professor Dr. Napasri Timyam, Deputy Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Humanities; Assistant Professor Dr. Tanapat Sontirak, Lecturer in Japanese Language, Faculty of Humanities; Mrs. Achiraya Nunes Galante, International Affairs, Professional Level, Scholarships and Cooperation Supervisor Academic Affairs, KU International College; Mrs. Hathaitus Semchuchot, Acting Director of International Affairs Division, Foreign Relations Officer, Senior Professional Level; Mrs. Neeracha Kalatakasuwan, Head of International Scholarships and Opportunities Section, Foreign Relations Officer, Professional Level; Miss Prattana Thirakiettikun, Head of the International Collaboration and Networking Section; and personnel of the International Affairs Division welcomed the official visit to Kasetsart University of Professor Katsutoshi Sakurai, President of Kochi University, Japan and his delegates consisting of Professor Kou Ikejima, Vice President for Education, and Mr. Yasuhiro Ueno, Head of Funding and Alumni Division.

          On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Ladawan Puangchit, Vice President for Academic Affairs welcomed and said that Kasetsart University and Kochi University have had a close relationship for a long time. Both universities are committed to working actively and closely to develop mutually beneficial activities and thank you for continuing collaboration, and for visiting KU today. Professor Katsutoshi Sakurai, President of Kochi University, Japan, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and wishes to strengthen relations and academic cooperation between the two universities in many faculties and various fields of study, continually expanding cooperation with the Faculty of Forestry, Fisheries, Science, Medicine, Social Sciences, and Humanities that were participated in today’s meeting.

          In summary, the meeting discussed with the delegation from Kochi University on various agendas as follows: organizing a joint seminar for students and staff; connecting collaboration and relationships with new generations of academics and researchers in various activities, especially in the fisheries field. In addition, today’s discussion also covers the creation of cooperation and joint activities with the Faculty of Forestry, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities, and the Faculty of Medicine, such as summer camps for students, a one-semester scholarship program for ASEAN +6 students on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Kasetsart University (KU OSSPAS), Double Degree Program, Credit transfer for students, online courses and short courses, etc. After that, the president of Kochi University, Japan, had lunch and visited the Faculty of Fisheries and Faculty of Forestry, meeting with alumni of Kochi University respectively.
