Insect Museum

Kasetsart University

The Kasetsart University Insect Museum is located at the Department of Entomology, Floor 2, Faculty of Agriculture. It exhibits insects from Thailand and other countries and provides informational resources to assist in research regarding the ecology of insects.

The Insect Museum collects and preserves samples of common insects to use as a basis for studies and research by taxonomists, KU students, or any person who seeks to learn about the many types of insects. The collection carefully explains the relationship of insects - some are beneficial, and some are harmful to humans and animals. The museum's purpose is to aid visitors to have a better understanding about the life of insects and how to effectively adapt that knowledge to everyday life.

Ant Museum

The first and only museum in the world focusing solely on ants.

Founded in 2001, the KU Ant Museums is located in the Winit Wanandon Building, Floor 2, Faculty of Forestry. In the front hall of the Ant Museum, there is a giant ant model created by Associate Professor Dr. Decha Wiwatwittaya (Ajarn Decha), who was passionate in telling the life story of ants. The museum's stories of about ants are told in four exhibition zones

  • The Wonders of Ants
  • The Bond between Ants
  • The Benefits of Ants
  • The Wonderful Life of Ants

The exhibition's stories unfolds the origin of ants, the anatomy of ants, the differences between ants and insects, the diet of ants, the long-time relationship between humankind and ants, ants and the environment, the mutualism of ants and plants, and ants and their Ant relationships to other animals. The Ant Museum presents fascinating information about the many different breeds of ants. Visitors who seek to know about ants can take a closer look by using one of the ants magnifying glasses.

Kasetsart University Museum of Fisheries

 

Kasetsart University Museum of Fisheries conserves many types of marine creatures, aquatic animals, different fish species, and various algae. The museum large also exhibits traditional fishing equipment. The building is itself located at the center of a pond. Inside is a large hall, in which a large portion of the area is allocated to a wide variety of marine creatures used for research and referencing purposes. Another area of the museum exhibits medium to large-sized aquatic animals; most are stuffed or displayed in skeletal forms. Each display in the exhibition has information about the creature, along with a photo showing it in living form. The information provided includes the creature's scientific name and description of its general appearance or distinctive features, with commentary about its habitat and food sources.

Bee Learning Center

The Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University

in partnership with Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. and Bayer AG, Germany, created the Bee Learning Center at Kasetsart University, which is the first such center in Asia dedicated to bees. The Bee Learning Center provides information about the importance of bees in maintaining a balanced, sustainable existence for society. The Center has activities and informational resources appropriate for people of all ages which educate visitors about various aspects of bees, revolving around the bee's important role as plant pollinator. Conservation efforts dedicated to protecting bees is directly linked to maintaining the ecosystem needed to ensure sustainable agriculture and safe, high quality food sources. The Center has built a collaborative network of the many researchers, institutes, and commercial enterprises, in Thailand and abroad that are doing research or working directly with bees.

Anatomy Museum

The Veterinary Anatomy Museum was created to assist in teaching veterinary anatomy to students enrolled in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Graduate School, or related fields of study. The museum is open to other students, academic colleagues, and the general public. The museum's exhibitions and collection occupy a space of approximately 300 square meters.

This museum functions as a resource for studies and research by students, academic colleagues, and the general public. The museum's exhibitions include a wide variety of animal Invertebrates, small and large vertebrates, and a bird exhibition area. Annually, the museum puts together a special exhibition. It also has a souvenir shop.

Museum of Rice

The Rice Science and Technology Centre, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture

established the Museum of Rice to educate students, academic colleagues, or the general public about rice and rice farming in Thailand. The museum and its activities introduce visitors to the historic origin of Thai rice farming, and the beliefs, traditions, and culture that evolved around rice. Visitors may observe demonstrations of thrashing using traditional wooden mortar and winnow, and milling with a rice milling machine. It is possible to arrange a visit and to learn about the various research being conducted on rice crops and rice processing, conducted by students enrolled in Kasetsart University Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture. The fundamental objective of the Museum of Rice is to widely spread accurate educational information about rice, and to foster greater understanding and appreciation for rice and the life of a rice farmer.
