FACULTY OF FORESTRY

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Faculty of Forestry began as a forestry school in 1936
when the Royal Forest Department opened a ranger training school at Phrae
province in Northern Thailand. The Forestry school was enlarged to a
college in 1940. The College of Forestry was affiliated to Kasetsart
University in 1944 and in 1954 the college moved to Kasetsart University at
Bangkhen. It offered a 5 years course leading to a Bachelor of Science
in Forestry. The course was reduced to 4 years in 1969. The graduate
program leading to a Master of Science in Forestry was offered in 1967 and
a doctorate program will be offered in 1991. The Faculty is the only profes
sional forestry school in Thailand.
There are six departments in the Faculty namely ; Forest Biology,
Forest Management, Forest Engineering, Forest Products, Silviculture and
Conservation.
