KU welcomes executives from Kyoto University ASEAN Center

     On 23 May 2024, in the IAD meeting room on the 10th floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building at Kasetsart University, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, welcomed three executives from the Kyoto University ASEAN Center, Japan. The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Eiji Nawata, Director of the Kyoto University ASEAN Center, along with Mr. Takuya Sato, Deputy Director, and Ms. Kanako Miyabayashi, Assistant to the Director, on the occasion of their formal visit to Kasetsart University.

     The purpose of this visit was to introduce Mr. Takuya Sato, Deputy Director, and Ms. Kanako Miyabayashi, Assistant to the Director, who assumed their new positions last April. The visit also aimed to strengthen the relationship between Kasetsart University and Kyoto University, especially through the ASEAN Center. Discussions included academic and research cooperation and various activities between the two universities, such as supporting the annual Kyoto University – Kasetsart University Student Exchange Program, both inbound and outbound. Kasetsart University exchange students will visit Kyoto University from 10-21 June 2024, and Kyoto University exchange students will visit Kasetsart University from 2-14 September 2024. Additionally, the executive team from the Kyoto University ASEAN Center invited KU administrators to attend the 10th-anniversary celebration of the opening of the Kyoto University ASEAN Center on 17 December 2024.

     The meeting also discussed cooperation in areas such as promoting research funds and scholarships and organizing the KU KUGSA Bilateral Hybrid Symposium 2024 in Japan around December 2024. These projects reflect the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions. Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, expressed her willingness to support and assist the Kyoto University ASEAN Center. She offered the International Affairs Division as a channel to help disseminate news about cooperative activities between the two institutions, such as scholarships, publicizing further education opportunities, or various exchange program activities at Kyoto University, to increase the number of students interested in joining these projects.

     Incidentally, Kyoto University has had a long-standing relationship with Kasetsart University through joint projects in various forms, including short-term student exchanges and the exchange of researchers and faculty members.
